Oak
Oak
Oak trees are some of the tallest trees found in our region (up to 100 feet tall!) and can often be found in old forests that have reached full maturity. Oak trees are known for their "acorns," which are the seeds they use to reproduce.
Technically this tree is member of the "white oak" side of the family, whose leaves have rounded lobes. Other members on the "red oak" side also produce acorns but have pointed lobes.
Didn't get this one right? Don't worry! Just like other living things, there's a lot of diversity in the plant kingdom, and even two trees of the same species can look very different from each other. Identification takes practice!
